Nigerian Carnival Production of W.B. Yeats’ The Only Jealousy of Emer

Monday 17th April 2017
13:00 The LAB, Foley Street

Time:  1pm, 3pm and 5pm

Dublin City Arts Office presents the Nigerian Carnival production of W.B Yeats’ The Only Jealousy of Emer, originally staged on the Tenement Museum site on Henrietta Street as part of the International Literature Festival Dublin 2015 and supported by Yeats 2015.

Part of the Cúchulainn Cycle of five plays about the life and death of the mythic Irish hero, The Only Jealousy of Emer continues Yeats’ experiments with Japanese Noh theatre as a way of bringing onto the stage demons, ghosts and supernatural events.

The production will be recreated in The Lab with the original Nigerian cast, and audiences will follow the production into different studios. Designed by Robert Ballagh and directed by Ray Yeates, the 20-minute play will have three showings that are free of charge to the public.
